overhead squats are something i enjoy but have for some reason neglected over the last few months. it was time to test the waters. an obvious lack of strength in the wrists and hands was the most surprising revelation of the day. once warmed up, strength ans posture returned and a relative level of comfort with the movement returned. more practice is on the radar.

the first section of the timed effort flew by in 1:59 with only a few minor instances of hesitation. from that point the original plan was to rest 3:00 and repeat the second half as was done at the shop. instead i completely lost track of time as the recovery was gone before i knew it. looking at the clock at 4:47 or so i realized my mistake and tried to get the vest on but didn't manage until 5:09 or so, 10 seconds late. at that point i figured that was the penalty i get for lack of focus. then, to compound my struggles, i started with pullups and furthermore realized the vest wasn't on right and was far too lose. frustrated i dropped from the bar and decided to mod. 4 minutes rest would be taken instead of 3 and as a penalty the second round would be done with the same movements as the first. the reverse order and extra weight during the clapping pushups made the c2b pullups a real challenge. at least one failed attempt per round led to frustration and a considerably longer effort than the first iteration. 5:45 - that sounds slow and it felt that way as well. the last set of clapping pushups went 2-2-2-2-2 as they became an equally challenging part of the scenario. that's two days in a row where i botched the workout due to lack of paying attention. not normal for me.
