anticipation and curiosity was at an all time high when pulling into the parking lot. upon entering and looking around it was hard to miss some familiar faces. i'm not sure if "star struck" is the best description of meeting face to face with someone you've seen in hundreds of videos or not but a feeling of respect and admiration can't be denied. the feeling was familiar and reminded me of last winters' visit to cfjax. these people really exist.

the day started off with an overview of what the program is about, it's goals, methods, and the science behind the results. for the rest of the morning and afternoon they alternated between full doses of movement standards, practice and technique, and more general information - all of which was delivered in a professional and to the point compact package.

physically and mentally drained by the end of the day there was one more thing left. after numerous not so subtle hints throughout the day it was announced that fran would be the workout. a staple of these weekends it wasn't a question of "if" but "when". after going over the proper rom we were asked of our current familiarity with this infamous pair. to anyone with a sub 5 min time it was recommended that dumbbells be used. i welcomed this idea and after confirming rx of 45lb db's i promptly found a pair and awaited the infamous 3... 2... 1... go

still unsure of the value of the weekend i look forward to finishing the second day with an open mind. regardless of how well i think i know the material there's still a test to pass. and it must be passed or else my judgement with resource allocation will need to be seriously reviewed.

more tomorrow...

dumbbell fran - 5:21

more difficult than with the barbell. i'm still looking to shave 17+ seconds off my barbell time to get sub 4 min. it will happen before the year is up.
