the demands of having a young family on ones time, patience, energy, and overall life can only be known and understood by those who are living in a similar reality. it's one thing to be busy in life (who isn't) but when it comes to training, the effects of rarely getting quality sleep is another. recovery, performance, and motivation are all tested when attempting to train at a deficit. often times it's hard to know what the best move is. work or rest? although mental desire to improve is at an all time high one has to wonder if temporary inactivity is the best move to get there. does it make us better to work when our mind and or body are telling us to rest? more than any other goal or priority, sickness must be kept at bay. the real world and it's associated responsibility is rewarding in a much more permanent and relevant way than the latest pr and the ability to continue on can't be neglected. taking care of others is worth every bit of work involved and this primary responsibility can't be done as well if half of the team is out of commission. the demands of the real world have been compounding for as long as can be remembered and, on this day, it was too much to overcome. with long term success and longevity in mind, there really is no choice. rest is required.

too many nights have been strung together that have been made up of multiple hour and a half naps sandwiched between lengthy periods of being wide awake. i'll take random and unknown any day of the week, just not when it comes to sleep...
this has got to end.
