CHOOSE YOUR FUTURE

.
choose life.
choose a job.
choose a career.
choose a family,
choose a big television.
choose washing machines, cars,
compact disc players, and electrical tin openers.
choose leisure wear and matching luggage.
choose a three piece suite on hire purchase in a range of fabrics.
choose diy and wondering who you are on a sunday morning.
choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing,
spirit-crushing, game shows,
stuffing junk food into your mouth.
choose rotting away at the end of it all in a miserable home,
nothing more than an embarrassment
to the selfish brats that you've spawned to replace yourself.

choose your future,
choose life.

i chose not to choose life, i chose something else...

i have multiple reasons for posting these lyrics and could go much deeper than this but here's the main ideas...

1. they remind me that in the end our choices are just that, ours. there are circumstances that we all must work around, some large some small, and some that may not be able to be over come. sometimes there are legitimate excuses for why we don't do what we say we will or what we want to but in the end if we want something bad enough there is a way. "choose your future".

2. they put technology, convenience, and all other modern luxuries in perspective. there are so many distractions and aids that we don't know what it's like to live and fight for what we need. how much tv should we watch, if any? what about movies? sporting events? time on the internet?

relaxation is necessary but at what cost?

in the end it's all about responsibility to our goals, family, friends, and future. what matters to you most? is it the right thing?

choose your future.
choose a better life.
find balance.

good post...kinda makes me think of what my mom use to say "a mistake is only a mistake if you don't learn from it" choices are tough sometimes and sometimes despite a bad choice, the learning experiences from them are irreplacable....
