BALANCE, RESPONSIBILITY, AND CONTROL

.
i would have preferred to have found time to escape and retreat to the lair at some point today but it's not going to happen. being pulled in multiple directions at once makes life both interesting and challenging. the juggling act of family, work, training, and personal time has been more of a challenge lately and promises to increase in difficulty in the coming year. often times, like today, i'm left without enough resources to keep the act alive, all the balls are lying on the floor. so what? should i be disappointed that i didn't get my fix today? maybe. maybe not. over a long enough timeline i'm still convinced i'll get enough effort in throughout the year. for me, where i need to improve, is to remember that the key is to be ready to go at all times and not to sabotage the day before it's even over. otherwise if the opportunity does present itself then i'm ready to go instead of mentally or physically shut down. someone whom i respect and look up to recently sent me a piece of advice that makes more and more sense each time i read it. if i can remember and practice this then more often than not the pieces will fall together and i'll be juggling burning swords blindfolded. and not even realize it...

... grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
