56:45 with vest
there is no describing the mental anguish of this workout. i was done after round 7 and had to do some serious soul searching in order to maintain my pace. quitting was not an option but i wanted to, bad. i may have been better off doing this without the vest for the first time but i figured it best to dive in and see what happened.
the first mile was completed in around 8:45 and the second was 9:55. i made up ground on the other guys during the middle section but lost it all and then some on that final run. it was hard to breath with the extra load and my arms felt like they had also been strapped with 20# vests. residual from the pullups and pushups i'm sure.
pretty much all of us stuck to a 20 rounds of cindy strategy. however, worlock did have a good strategy at the end by doing 5 extra squats the last three rounds leaving him with none before the run and "fresh" legs.
in the end i've determined the best strategy for the demands of an effort like murph is to not be carrying any extra body weight. being 10lbs lighter would have helped immensely and unlike other strength related scenarios a lower bodyweight wouldn't hurt ones ability to get the work done. once again, lean and mean seems to be the secret.
