a nasty combination with disasterous consequences. the mysterious lower back tightening and pain that i've experienced on a few rare occassions in the past returned during the second round of this effort, bringing my plans and pace to an end. by the time i reached the third round i couldn't string together more than 2 deads at even the lightest of loads. the only way to keep going was singles in which i dropped from the top. the pain involved in returning the bar the the floor for a touch and go was simply too much. each movement compounded on the next, aggravating and tightening the posterior connection between the upper and lower halfs. i'm not completely sure what induces this pain but i've pinpointed it to scenarios in which deadlifts and cleans are always involved. frustration was at an all time high as it wasn't my conditioning or muscluar strength that was a problem, but some other weakness. one that i'm not sure how to correct or strengthen. combined with a possible injury to the healthy shoulder i'm not off to the best start of this new year.

patrick: 2 rounds + 5 clean
clint: 2 rounds + 9 ohs
john: 2 rounds + 16 swings
