* ball must be caught on all reps, including the last of each set, for the work to count. standing upright with hips open holding the ball at waist height constitutes the proper finish position.

every so often it's important to change it up, go back in time, to the basics, and keep things simple. other than remembering what round you're on there is very little thought that occurs during efforts like the two above. typically i don't gravitate towards simplicity but there is no denying the effectiveness of said training methods. in the end one must choose what not only challenges them but what is sustainable. subtle variations on the above prescription repeated day in and day out, for me, would result in long term ruin as the monotony of simplicity could not be maintained. at this point in time i'll accept some loss in potential gains for the assurance that there is no potential for loss of activity.
