the original destination was an old park with a large wooden "gym" built long before modern playground construction methods were even a consideration. today's brightly colored and softly cushioned play areas are a far cry from the now deemed "too dangerous" wood and bare metal monsters from the past. said jungle was thought to still exist but upon arrival it's allure was immediatedly relinquished to that of other childhood memories. with no plan b we headed in the direction of another old stomping ground where previous efforts had proven highly beneficial. this time, however, instead of using the recently facelifted 400m loop i insisted on giving the bleachers their fair share of use. the above scenario was put together on the spot in 5-10 minutes with a quick trial run at half pace. one mentality proposed a 3 rounds for time scenario while the other had alternating single attempts as a focus. in the end a comprimise was decided upon of 2 alternating efforts of 2 rounds for time. john started off and upon near completion of the first of his two rounds it was decided that the original proposal of single rounds in sprint mode would be the challenge for the day. one of the times below is flawed reflecting the inherent pacing of his first round under the previous guidelines. after that it was an all out drag race...

i'll be visiting this location (or similar) and type of scenario again in the future. all out efforts with full recovery where efficiency of the terrain is built upon and maximized just before physical failure, is something i plan to explore further. so far, results appear to hit the target dead center.
