strengthening the ability to maintain mental aptitude during physical activity is just as important as the strength work itself. in this instance i combined both in a format that would progressively stress and tax my ability to squat at a high percentage of 1rm while doing what should be simple math at the same time. it seemed as though somewhere in the middle i cut myself a short a little on recovery and video analysis revealed a 20 second addition error to have occurred. this type of error is to be expected but not to be taken lightly. i contend that it's one thing to be able to have high physical output and something else to do so while exercising the most important muscle of all. during all but the last 4 squats the bar was reracked in order to take full advantage of recovery but considering the process of one squat takes roughly 10 seconds from start to finish i chose not to at the end. i started each period when lifting the load from the rack and will try starting it when the actual squat begins next time. although i don't know that there is any difference.

the runs were painful. brutally so. into the wind both times due to the choice to walk back during recovery after the first attempt. both of these efforts should have been sub 3. lots's of work to do in this area. been saying that for 3 years...
